Does Anybody Know The Formulas?
-
I'm coming across a lot of situations now where I want to know how much a horse is roughly going to make. I know I've seen players put how much a horse will make until the age of 17 where it might pass, but I could never figure it out.
I also can't for the life of me figure out the formula for figuring out the intact/snipped ratio. I know on the other server I have 1:1.5 thanks to the help of a good player. -
I think most people on here say the it is 3 show horses to every intact :)
-
I know what you want is a 1:3 ratio so that you can get a lot of money to do things, but is their math involved? Like...hmm let me see. There's 100 intacts and 250 show ponies. I'm pretty sure it'll be 1:2.5? I don't really know.
-
Yup, thats correct.
The higher % of show horses you have, the more fun-money you'll have. I am hoping to reach 10:1 very soon. I have 12000-something all together, and 1400-and-something are intact. Some of those are this years foals (they have been through SBA but I have not gone through them to alter any that does not meet my criteria for papering, consistency and color). I usually buy all the GMTs and other fun stuff I want, but I still run out of barn space every year :PID 108 -
Haha yea it's always barn space, always. But I got help from someone and think I now figured it out. On my account on the other server I have 151 intacts and 219 show ponies. She said take the number of show horses and divide by your number of intacts. 219÷151=1.45033112582781 (1.5).
Then to figure out how many you need take your number of intacts and times it by ten. 151×10=1,510.
Checking to make sure it's right, 1,510÷151=10 (don't need to do this but just to be safe).
Ended up with a 1:1.5 ratio.
Then for here I have 83 intacts and 62 show ponies (ouch).
62÷83=0.74698795180722 (0.7).
83×10=830.
830÷83=10.
1:0.7 ratio.
Boy does it feel good to put down all those numbers and actually know what it means. (I suck at math, always have).
For yours @Maribo let's see.
1,400 intacts and 10,600 show ponies. 10,600÷1,400=7.57142857142857 (7.6).
1,400×10=14,000.
14,000÷10=1,400.
1:7.6 ratio. Or actually 1:8
Please do tell me if I'm wrong, but I feel pretty confident it's right. -
I've always wondered, does it really make a big difference if the show ponies are snipped or intact? I have a total of 2362 horses. (OMG, I need a keeper!) 638 are snipped, 270ish studs not counting ones I plan to sell, the rest are mares. Only about 160 of the mares spend any real time in pasture, everything else is shown and my daily bonus is just over 61k. Most of the time I actually get around to breeding maybe 300 mares, but it's usually not the same 300 every month because i don't always use the same studs. The other 1200 or so mares are just show ponies with possibilities so whenever I find a straw I want a mare with specific genes for I have it already. :D
Would it really boost my daily bonus if i snipped a lot more horses?~*~ Justa ~*~

The simple answer to that is yes. I remember reading this somewhere, but Confluence has said that it does help the horse in the long run cause they do gain a little bit more points being snipped (ideal as baby's but can be done anytime). She did mention though that Ammit is the only one who knows how much actually if I remember correctly. There was also a very neat post (can't remember on which server) which had mostly big but also small barns look at the ages of their snipped horses and put their lowest and highest by all time points. And then their intact horses. It went all the way up until you either only had one of that age or didn't have any at all. The numbers were quite impressive! Having snipped horses is a major as I now know very much it makes a difference. I wish I could find it but I have difficulty sometimes.Thanked by 1Ammit

To answer your other question about how to figure out the future amount of money a horse will make in the rest of its life, you multiply the daily payout (at the bottom of the top section of the Horse Info page) by the number of days until the horse turns 18. (They don't have a possibility of aging out until 18, rather than the 17 you had listed.) This will give you the minimum amount it would earn if it never earned another point and aged out as young as possible.
Here is an example:
1492495
A 15 year old spayed mare with a 10.3PT, 1244 total points and a daily payout of 133 hbs. There are 80 days between today (Feb 9) and May 1 when she turns 18, so she will earn me a minimum of 10,640hb. In reality she should earn a lot more than that since she is showing twice a week, placing in the middle of 7W and earning 10 to 22 points per show.

Oh wow that is soo helpful! Thanks @OndowaStables!

That math will give you a 1:10 ratio of show horses.
If your looking for a 1:3 ratio (the regularly suggested minimum ratio) you just times the number of intacts by 3. That would probably be he best place to start before worrying about 10:1 ratio.
151 x 3 = 453 show horses.Breeding even generation Grullos with Ice -
As for the difference between intact and show horses.
A show horse earns slightly more each training session and will train for longer before leveling off than an intact horse so they will get to a higher showing level compared to a similar intact horse.
Also an intact mare can have 15+ babies in her lifetime so each mare will cost you the price of a new 15 stall barn on top of the breeding fees to house them (even if you buy the bigger barns it’s onlt slightly cheaper). If you leave her out of the pasture to show she will be able to pay you back some of the money. If she’s in the pasture most of her life she won’t have much of a daily pay out to add to pay down the costs for her keep.
Show horses on the other hand just sit and print you money. The only thing they cost you is the show fees twice a week (which aren’t that much and the horse usually covers it with their weekly pay out after not long)
They don’t cause you to buy new barns, they pay for themBreeding even generation Grullos with Ice -
I have a lot of intact showers but my alters are a lot better show ponies - in my top 100 horses for all time points I have only 5 intacts (first one is no. 29).

@Bandit1119, I had seen before about show horses making you money and the 15 ish foals possible from a mare, and that mares in pasture give you better foals but no show points.
My logic for my herd has been if I keep really good mares who show and train constantly, then they're paying not only their own upkeep but earning enough to help me buy more barns so I can keep the best foals. I breed mares in pasture so it's cheapest as much as possible then sell the foals i don't need, building up my barns and show herd as much as I can. A few months ago, I had only one 60 stall barn for show ponies, now I have five 120 stall barns, so literally ten times that many. I just keep picking up breeding stock, too. Shiny ponies are my bane. :x
My next 120 stall show barn will be full within a day of me getting it, I'm sure. The last one was. Lol
I have over a hundred young untested blue mares I plan to put through BA once I have the room, and I expect at least half to get snipped. Then I'll be running the intact ones through pastures along with a batch of gold mares, and that show barn will be full. :D~*~ Justa ~*~

@Dinascar, I just checked my top all time points... of my top ten horses, six are intacts and the horse in tenth, a 17yr mare, has over 1800 points. My top point horse is actually a 10.3 pt intact red papered 2g mare with 2652 points. How does that compare with your herd? Are my snipped show horses just not doing as well as they should? @JustaSaddletramp It might be time to ask everyone to look at their top 25 horses and report back how many are intact/altered and do a little comparison. :)

all of my top 25 are snipped. They are all 18 or more. The top 13 have 3000+ points. My first intact horse comes in at #87 and he’s a 17 year old gen 2 stallion, 10.4, with 2400 points.
My top 75 horses all have 2500+ points.

That's a good point, @DinaChill. My account is less than a year old too, and it took me a few months to realize I really needed show ponies at all. Lol~*~ Justa ~*~

My account is closing in on turning 2. My top 25 has 8 intacts with my top horse being a Red 2nd Gen mare out of RS parents and has 2911 points.
Other metrics: 1956 total horses. 1290 snipped and 676 intact. My daily bonus - without showing today yet - sits just over 81K. But I also show everything and will sacrifice pasture bonus to make sure they get shown each week. -
Please ignore idk what's going on
-
Amgr1992, blame it on 'baby brain'! You have earned that right, big time!
All of my top 25 are altered and over 17. The highest points are a 21 year old with 3590. This account is 4.5 years old (but I had played another of Ammit games for several years before that)Thanked by 1Amgr1992 -
My all time points earner at the moment is intact, but he's 19yo! Other than him I only have another 2 intacts in the top 25. My top points boy gives me nearly 4000hb a week just for hanging around! I'll be sad when he's gone, as will my bank balance!
-
Confluence only half my comment was posting! =)) that being said I have 956 ponies, only 480 are spelds, but i lost my premium account so I'll be spending time building my show barns!
-
I have only 1 intact in my top 25 (he's #3) but all of them except 1 are Dark Star spelds I grabbed from auction. My next intact is #38 and #42 is the first of my own breeding.
My account is 1 year 1 month old and I have 5370 horses, 3368 spelds and 2202 intact (not sure why those 2 numbers don't add up to the total). I'm a pixel pony hoarder. I just got to 100k show bonus over the weekend! -
I think comparing everyone's intact vs non intact show horses is about as effective as comparing AFPT of mares in everyone's barns.
A neat experiment would be to take horses that we know have a fairly predictable showing ability (ie, Exceptionally Perfect, Exceptional Show Horses, and Perfect Foundations) and do a comparison of intact vs non intact of a number of each over an entire horse's lifetime.
Like, buy a 60 stall barn that is set to auto show and, right at the start of next season, create 20 2 year olds of the three HH I mentioned, speld half, and see what the comparisson is in showing ability between each group after 17 seasons.ID# 47364

@BlackWyld - it's not supposed to be scientific just a curious question :P
But yes a scientific study could be done with a bunch of gelded and intact PFs or exceptional perfects - the show ponies have different PT scores (and can be inconsistent). Oh yeah! I definitely did not mean it as any sort of direct criticism, more just musing.
I keep forgetting that the show horses have varying PTs and consistancies, I always assume they are like the ExPerfs. 8-}ID# 47364
