I'm sitting here waiting for my boyfriend to get home. I've been vomiting since 5 am. I was so dehydrated by 9 that nothing came out when I pumped. I feel so engorged and it hurts. Not to mention I haven't been able to keep any water down and have the runs. Since nothings staying down I haven't had pain meds so my incision site hurts like a mother. I'm so stressed I broke down in tears. I think I got salmonella poisoning :-((

Oh no! Be careful you don’t wind up with mastitis, that is extremely painful. I would say if you can’t keep water or some flat ginger ale down by this evening to go to the ER, even if it’s just to get some fluids and some Zofran for the nausea/vomiting. You don’t want to mess around with that when trying to heal. Hugs momma

Definitely agree with Fallen there! Be careful and take good care of yourself. Maybe try some ice chips to try and get some water down and/or an ice pack for the pain?

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well! I hope you start feeling better soon. In contrast to what has been recommended before, I wouldn't recommend waiting until later and going to the ER if you aren't feeling better. I'd highly recommend contacting your doctor's office now and speaking with a nurse. Their recommendation would be much safer and much more valuable than what we, as a community, can offer. We're happy to offer moral support and words of encouragement however offering health care advice is beyond our scope of expertise!

Thank you guys! My ob sent me to the ER, my boyfriend got off work early and took me. They think it's a bad case of food poisoning

Glad you went to the ER! My niece messed around with a similar problem after a c section and had to have surgery to repair damage she did to herself with all the dry heaves. Everything turned out okay, but they told her next time to go to the ER immediately, not after being sick for most of a day. Hope you're feeling better fast!

I'm so sorry you have experienced this added complication, but am glad that you got to the ER. Sending up prayers that the doctors will get you straightened out quickly and that there are no bad after-effects.

So glad you are getting medical attention. For engorgement lots and lots of massages, warm compresses, and patience. Do you have a lactation consultant you can talk to? You have to be taught all of this stuff breastfeeding stuff, it doesn't just come naturally.

Also, watch your self for signs of depression and anxiety, they are VERY normal. Almost every woman has dark intrusive thoughts after giving birth and we don't talk about them. This is one of the hardest times you will have in your life. Don't be afraid to seek medical care if you even suspect you need too.
