Year 67: A Perspective
-
This season has been a really good season for Cloistered Glen.
Awards
We won an award. In Era 5 Breeders Club one of our horses won number 4 for points earned by a lined horse.
Show Pony 0078
We couldn't be prouder. Previously his sire had received 9 and 10 Top Producing Stallion for Era 5 and is known to produce Blue and A papered foals. He's also produced other award winning foals. He is our favorite brown sire.
Blackest Brown
Upcoming 2 Year Olds
We are currently participating in HUSG random 2 year old selection and are patiently awaiting to see what promise they hold.
And while we have an amazing assortment of beautiful foals this year (57!) we are most excited to watch The Pink Medicine grow up.
The Pink Medicine
Besides being pink (I absolutely adore pink horses IRL) this filly is related to several of my favorite horses including our recently passed Milestone mare, Mediocre Queen(who is out of our first Kings Ransom mare, also greatly missed) and Pink Highness, a varnish appaloosa whose offspring are keeping her lines alive in our barns.
She is a Chocolate Palomino Roan Pearl Appaloosa. We can't wait until she ages to 4 as we plan on pairing her extensively with hom snowflake studs to see if she inherited the gene from her grandsire.
While we wanted to just highlight one 2 year old we have to show off this filly.
Wandless Magic
Silver Black Appaloosa, she unfortunately missed the brown from her dam and the ice from her sire and at least one snowflake gene. Hoping to test her against studs when she comes of age.
She is by our Frozen Speckles stud Snow Blind, who is out of a Nanotech Primer mare. She is out of @Riata 's beautiful mare Muggle Manor who is descended from one of our original studs, Paint Dob, whose lines have sadly disappeared from our barns. We are hoping this beautiful filly will reintroduce those lines.
Most Promising 2/3 Year Olds
We have 17! upcoming studs(somebody help me!) We are most excited about this one.
Slurry Sludge
White Spotted Brown Appaloosa. I am addicted to brown. KitM looks delicious with appaloosa. He's by Shadows on a Lake who is descended from our 100000(1) horse. He has varnish, my favorite appaloosa effect and carries pearl. Superior to Stud, so we are looking forward to his contributions to our lines.
38 lovely ladies are coming of age this coming year. Most exciting is Double Dog Dare.
Double Dog Dare
She is by our mushroom Hidden Gates stud and out of a Bone Fire mare. She is a second gen Blue! mare and she will be used exclusively through eggs the first few seasons unless I can get my hands on a 2g A papered mushroom stud. Then they will make those sweet, sweet pasture babies until I get a 3g Star/Gold.
Out Performing Show Horses
With a whopping 240 points and 840 HBs this year this show pony is our best performing.
Show Pony 0406
Our "best showing" is Pirate King related to Dance Between to Oceans through two offspring and to Pink Highness.
Pirate King
He is a "sleeping wonder" or a spotless Appaloosa. Much fun will be had!
Top Producing
We've got 2 foals for highest PT this year at 11.2PT
Blue Show Pony 0041
A Show Pony 0008
and therefore we have 2 top producing sires.
Brinking Light
A Show Pony 0001
and two mares.
Show Pony 0270
Blue Show Pony 0026
Sad Goodbyes
Auction Thrower
We remember Auction Thrower. He was created specifically to breed foals for the auction but he stole our heart. Seriously a sucker for a pretty grey. He's left us a couple of studs to spread his lines. The grey was strong with this one.
Death Watch
Our oldest horse:
School is a Battlefield
Created from a Great Show Horse herd helper, Jul. 12, 2017 she never quite fulfilled that promise, only gaining 798 points in her lifetime.
And while we have 46 horses who may pass this coming season these two are our highest pointed, and will be sorely missed when they pass.

I really love reading about people’s ‘year’ in review. What a lovely idea! Here is mine:
This year I reached a long sought after and personal breeding goal. A homozygous W10 foal. She was born with the added bonus of being hom pearl which I also breed for and is descended on both sides from my boy SA Millioniare who was essentially the foundation of my entire breeding herd:
SA HowMuchItMeans 4G
My satin line is bred purely for the satin colour and to produce pretty, sucsesssful show horses and high Papered mares/stallions with bling. I’ve slowly been breeding them up to draft size and this season my favourite satin stallion gave me a hom satin, hom pearl boy:
SA PromiseOfDisaster
And unexpected delight this season was this cracking ice colt. I breed very little ice but he’s inspired me to dabble a little more:
SA The Ice Master 4G snf
My best breeding stallion this season was this fellow from my MillionReasons line that incorporates my breeding goals of Snf, W10, pearl and DP with it without KP as well. He is currently on the leaderboard for W10
SA Millionaires Luck G4 s
Outside of my MillionReasons line this fellow was my best stud. He continues to throw perfection:
$SA Frostbourne 3G snf kp
In the coming year, I look mist forward to breeding this beautiful mare. Sabino is making itself more nd more prominent in my lines slowly:
SA Silver Frost 4G
My highest pointed show horse is this fellow, a gift from Cheers:
1406227
The show horse who earned me the most points and hb’s this year however was this fellow:

Breeder of Chocolate Chinchilla, Nexus Chinchilla, Satin Chinchilla and DP Mushroom Drafts and Cobs -
Wildland Acres is going into the next stage with the bootstrap breeding, with the addition of some new suds and a handful of Dark Star bred mares I am ecstatic with the crop of foals I got out of the pasture this month. Things are still going for the lined horses as well.
Got roughly 88 awards this year. Not going to go through them all, but these two really stood out to me when I was counting.
Requiem:
So excited about him, he is definitely my best home bred horse to date. (I believe he qualified for that before I boosted him) Took three championship trophies this year as well as siring 2 14pt foals with his first season in my pasture. He is certainly the new standard on my farm. *Will be up for stud next month after he is done in my pasture.
Requiem
The Cabin Faced West:
My best home bred mare got 2 championships and a 7th place this month.
B The Cabin FacedWest kK
Upcoming 2 year olds:
Three Requiem Fillies
Arien
The Fatal Risk
Reign of Achilles
A 4g snowflake
SN Magic Line 4
A lined gold hom GP girl
3714130
This girl
N Winter Battle 4
And a star lined Nexus!
N Nightshade Werewolf 5
Most Promising 2/3 ear olds
That lot falls squarely on the two new bootstrap boys who will be joining Requiem now.
Lessons From Konick:
Het DP, het GP. Home bred, but descended from both Cheers and Dark Star stock, he will really help make the herd what I have always imagined it being. He is not quite to the same standard as Requiem, but close enough to still test AGA to him. * Will be put up for stud after he is done in the pastures this month.
Lessons From Konick JDP
Falkaur the Betrayer:
A generous gift Dark Star was willing to send to my secret Santa last December, and then I gave him a boost. I am really excited about him. Looking at his breeding I'm thinking he may outdo Requiem, I guess this month will come to show it. *Will be up for stud this month
Falkaur the Betrayer
Notable mention:
Meteor Storm:
My last and only intact foal from my Meteoric Milestone filly will be three. Her father was het GP and she got at least one copy of DP from somebody. I am really hoping for a bright future for her.
Meteor Storm 3
In Remembrance:
We are still very much missing Dark Wishes, but he had a major impact on the generations after him. My lined breeding after third gen still hasn't taken off well, but he was a great boy.
B Dark Wishes
The death Watch
We are keeping an eye on more horses that ever this month. Both the safe for the show barns and the foundation herd are all in fear of many of their most prized and favorites horses. It is being said that the tole the next few months will have on the foundation herd will likely spell its dismantlement and end as 3/4 of the mares are on death row and we are in fearful watch of the herd sire who is getting up there as well.

Breeding Warmbloods of superior quality that suit my fancy! -
Just let me say first that I love this idea and think it is great. Love seeing what everyone else has accomplished this year and looking at their pretty ponies.
Rohanian Rose Stables spent a good portion of this year taking a close look at all the herds and horses currently calling the stables and pastures home. Some horses were retired from breeding to focus instead on their lives in the show ring while others were sold to other pastures and we hope that their new owners have great luck with them. Almost everything was reorganized and we hope for a much smoother breeding season next year. While this year was a bit of a whirlwind and the pastures a little of a free for all, we got some adorable new prospects out of it and I'm proud to introduce you to them.
Awards
Once again Odin and Blackwater Criminal brought home awards for Top Producing Stallion. Odin is my favorite second gen stud and Blackwater is my bootstrap boy who DinaChill was gracious enough to sell to me to continue with my bootstrapping efforts.
g2 Odin
DC Blackwater Criminal
Upcoming Two-Year-Olds
These three are my personal favorite coming 2-year-olds.
This boy is carrying on the legacy of one of my favorite lines, he's a fourth generation, even bred boy, and his great grandsire is my Hidden Gates stud. He tested superior to his sire and, for now, will be the one to carry on the line.
g4 DP Lokis Mischief
Continuing with the trend of brindle babies this little lady is ice and brindle (though it's hard to see).
g2 i1 Ice Princess
Finally this girl who is out of one of my favorite foundation studs who, while he might not look like much, throws such beautiful babies.
g2 OlwPrl Wild Dreams
Most Promising 3 Year Olds
I don't have any upcoming studs that are better than my current bests so I'll focus on my girls instead. One of the main things that I breed for are large spotted appys so I'm very excited to see how both of these girls do for me next year. Dreams of Summer was also my favorite filly and she is one of my favorite mares so I really hope she does well.

And that's my year in review!ID: 40723 -
AH! Everyone has such beautiful horses!
MF3, that W10 girl is so pretty. The gene interaction there, woah.
SilverAleki The Ice Master looks like his shoulder and leg bone are showing. It's pretty cool. And Silver Frost makes me want to hunt down sabino2 to add to my lines.
Wildland Acres, 88 awards! I will have to keep my eyes open if you ever unload show ponies.
Ren, Dreams of summer is a very loud one! Her spots are pretty awesome.
Just one more day until we get to see our 2yr olds and 2 days for breeding season!
