If you are pregnant, a month should be ample time for a test to show. However, with all 3 of my pregnancies I never got a positive test, it required a blood test. I would recommend a visit to a doctor and request a test. Since you are of legal age, your mom cannot stop you from requesting a test. It is extremely important to see your therapist/prescribing doctor as soon as possible after receiving the results should the test be positive, because some antidepressants are not classified as safe while pregnant.

Good luck to you, no matter what the outcome. It’s definitely a tough situation, and while you should always respect people’s wishes, this could very well affect your and your potential child’s health.

Also the prescription bottle clearly states that if I am pregnant or plan to become pregnant I should contact my doctor.

I would call your doctor then, and explain the situation. You are an adult now, and your mom cannot legally prevent you from seeking medical attention. I’m unsure of your situation, but since you are over 18 you can try to apply for state insurance where you live. They provide transport to and from your doctors appointments, as long as it is scheduled in advance. It would allow you to be able to at least get to appointments. But it is very important you find out as soon as possible. And no matter how your “system works”, pregnancy works one way. You become pregnant, and there will be increased hormonal levels that can be detected by bloodwork as early as two weeks. There are also ultrasounds that can be performed to verify pregnancy at earlier stages. I have PCOS with irregular cycles, my doctor tried telling me it would be difficult to test early on. I was also told I wouldn’t be able to become pregnant. Did your OB discuss a timeframe for when testing would provide the best results?

Hope you can get a test soon. As others have stated, the pee tests aren’t always accurate but the blood tests have a very high degree of accuracy. And doctors are wrong all the time about people not being able to fall pregnant naturally.

I was able to get my moms boyfriend to purchase me a test tonight without her knowledge and I'll be taking it in the morning. I'm honestly so nervous. Thank you guys for all the advice.

I took a test this morning and it was invalid. :( it showed the test line but not the control line and after reading the directions and online forums I came to the conclusion it was invalid. I got a pack of 2 and will be testing again.

I scheduled an appointment with my doctor for today. Fingers crossed.
