Best. Birthday. Ever!
-
It has been a long couple of days! The girls are stable and we were able to hold them for the first time today (January 19th)! It was the best birthday present ever! They are both so tiny and jaundiced. We may get to do skin to skin tomorrow if they get the machine that mimics the UV lights, skin to skin is a minimum of 45 minutes so itll be nice when and if we can :) I'm not sleeping, I'm up pumping every 3 hours and they are waking me ever half an hour for some reason, but these girls are worth it :xThanked by 1BlackWyld

Catnaps are your friends, momma! You're doing great from the sound of it, just hang in there. They'll learn how to sleep eventually, I promise. Lol

Sorry, they as in the nurses! Babies are in the NICU for the long haul right now unfortunately :( they are still covered in hair, its adorable! I think momma needs to relearn how to sleep lmao
-
Ah, yeah, nurses are horrible about waking you up constantly. Lol Last time I was in the hospital, they had me on an hourly testing schedule the first few days. I finally told the head nurse I had to sleep at least four hours a night and if not getting poked and prodded that long killed me, it'd be worth it. :))~*~ Justa ~*~

Yeah it's annoying that all the meds are on funky schedules. Not really sure why I'm on a blood thinner shot as I'm on iron because I'm anemic =)) but it comes at one. Then pain meds come every 4 hours for the roxicodone, every 6 hours for the tylenol and motrin on alternating schedules
-
The blood thinner is because you have to lie down so much. It prevents dangerous blood clots from forming where there's pressure on veins that aren't used to it. And that's some schedule for pain killers! I'm glad they're trying to keep you comfortable. :)~*~ Justa ~*~

Thank you! I'm glad they are too! I just wish they'd knock off the tylenol and just give me regular oxy. It works better and lasts longer! And thank you for that information! It's all been so confusing and exhausting. I'm ready for my babies to be healthy! I have cold sores thanks to my sister so I dont get to kiss my babies and I have to be extremely OCD about hand washing and make sure I'm sanitizing and not touching my face etc. I'm so paranoid about it all and terrified because if I end up giving it to the girls its almost guaranteed I'll lose them because they cant fight it :(

You have my complete sympathy over that horrid meds schedule that's interrupting your sleep. When my daughter was born, I experienced a broken blood vessel between the vaginal wall and the pelvis so they had to take measures to stop the bleeding. It was discovered when my blood pressure dropped drastically the afternoon after her morning birth. I spent that night in recovery (I think) having my blood pressure taken every 15 minutes! It was absolutely the longest night in my life. I'd drop off to sleep, start a weird dream, and find myself waking up again to the squeezing of the blood pressure cuff.
Hang in there. It sounds like most things are going pretty well.
