Since Nexus is on sale for the first half of the month, and since it hasn’t been available in a very very very long time, here is a quick thumbnail guide to how homozygous Nexus will look on the main base colors and some of their variants. This is by no means a comprehensive guide, especially since Nexus expression can be quite variable, but it should help you towards making a decision on which of your hoarded shiny foundations to put the gene on.

As you see already, the darker the base, the lighter the Nexus. Black points on bays turn pale gray, and white markings turn black.

I particularly like silver as that lightens the base coat, thus intensifying the nexus, and makes the manes dark still. Roaming can also create crazy effects. Here is one of the silver buckskin duns in my herd. Just love what nexus does with that.

I’ve got to say, I thought I knew where I was going with my own purchase and doing this post has got me totally confused now. There are less than 25 Gray Hom Nexuses in the entire game, and they’re super cool. That chestnut roan pearl is to die for, or really any of the pearls and pseudopearls. And that plain bay dun up there with the deep navy body and silver points and the really clear zebra barring? Swoon! Decisions, decisions!

What we should all have been doing is taking before and after pics of the horses that we are putting Hom Nexus on.
That would be the biggest help in colour reference.

I usually try to do that before GMTimg bigger projects anyway.

Is anyone else doing this?

I wouldn't normally do this because I really like my hidden Gates and I know that they're very special but I have a unread stallion that if somebody wants to put Nexus on him I am going to be willing to sell I would like to get some straws out of them though. I personally can't afford to put any more jeans on any horses and I think he would be phenomenal with Nexus on him
