I previously bought this guy, don’t remember where. He’s been great with throwing high papered goals but is tattoos confuse me. I know he’s not het pearl and satin but is he hom? Is that why the tats are there?

No, both of those genes are silent when het. (het pearl with het cream will give you a pseudo pearl). You only see satin and real pearl when the horses are Hom for it.

And just as a note, Hom satin doesn’t show up well on horses with a ton of white like this stallion and his first foal. If you want to breed for satin you will need to get some satin carrying mares into your herd.
