Het or Hom Snowflake ?
-
WJ Better Brindle Mushrum
Some people have been breeding to my stallion and saying that when crossed with SNF the foals are SNF.Is it possible that he is a carrier for hom SNF? -
He's definitely het SNF. I would say there's a decent chance he's HOM SNF since all of offspring that have the Llp gene are snowflakes. 3/3 isn't, statistically, definitive but he's either rather lucky or homozygous.
-
He could just be lucky with that. I’d definitely suggest a larger test sample. He’s definitely a carrier, but as to whether he’s hom or het you’re probably going to want a sample of ten to twenty breedings to hom, appy carrying mares before you take a guess at which it is.ID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines! I'm always selling straws and eggs from anything I have that catches your eye, don't hesitate to PM me and ask!
-
I have a few snowflake mares I can either pull eggs from or put up for breeding if you want to get a larger sample size.
-
He is Het as he has some foals from hom sf mare that are not showing the gene so he must be het.
-
Man, I wish he didn’t have mushroom so I could breed to him! I’ve got a riding horse snowflake line I’m always looking for good studs to breed to. Congrats on your luck with him.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES

What I can do for testing is to put him up for breeding at 1 hbs and straws at 200 hbs to find out.
Breed while you can until he reaches the limit. -
@Salvistar: check my herd, I may have some riding horse snowflake. So many horses I don't know what I have.
