Admitting defeat

I admit, when I came into the game, I had no concept of how showing worked, and I thought I could build a sustainable game purely from breeding. Yeah...that didn't go so well. Like, at all. And now that I have a breeding line I really want to pursue, I have no funds because I never bothered building a showing herd. So my question is, what is the best way to find dependable show horses? I know PT is no guarantee, but beyond that I get a bit confused. Just want to make sure I don't waste what money I have on horses that aren't going to be much help.
