NX isnt orange so I thought he was open gened so I'd prefer him as a stud. But I wouldn't mind him as a show horse either.

sorry if this seems like a silly question, but why do some people snip before sending their horses to auction? i understand with closed genes, as obviously they cannot be sold intact to someone who doesnt own the gene but i would have thought a horse could get a higher chance of being bid on if it was intact? just wondering as i have seen a lot of people doing this. is there a reason behind it?

It is an expression, however, some people do it so as to make them more appealing as show horses. I would only snip the sub-standard horses from my group, and ship all that I won't be keeping. With a number of LE/Closed genes, a License is required to own intact horses; therefore, they are literally snipped and shipped if the breeder does not wish to keep them.
