so if ive read correctly, the lighter the horses color is, the darker nexus shows up as? Im curious as I am not a big fan of the moon gray and blue nexus horses, but I really like the black and gray that looks more like a galaxy.

Which ones do you think would be able to produce what im looking for when crossed with a hom stud? (stud will most likely be ee)

I think it will be #1 and #11, but im still unsure about my genetics lol

Well, heterozygous and homozygous Nexus looks very different. This is what heterozygous nexus looks like, it’s just stars and a lighter “galaxy” type look covering the horse.

That being said, I prefer solid, non patterned horses for heterozygous nexus. And I have no clue about homozygous, so I’ll let someone else answer which would look better.

If you look through the search for nexus and find horses you like you can compare their genetics to see where there’s similarities.

On this server I have ice but server 1 I have grullo nexus (E? D? Nx?) with white patterns I find the hetero nexus on the grullos look fairly bright but the homo tend to be the moon grey and blue

The white patterns tend to turn to black with stars so I believe the lighter or whiter you can breed the foal the darker it will be but as Fallen said you’ll just get stars the first generation which you can hopefully cross back to get the homo galaxy effect

This is a filly by Fallen's stud, her pedigree shows several variations of Nexus on darker patterns.

RR Foxfire Lights NxNx

She lucked into being homozygous Nexus on a cremello base color, so nearly white, but her parents are both smoky black (black with a hidden cream gene) het nexus. Her grandsire up top is a grullo like Bandit mentioned (black with dun) homozygous Nexus, and her dam's grandsire Starry Knights is a smoky black homozygous Nexus. :)

I did a little searching for different colors with Nx and found these. NxNx on a silver buckskin base, out of a het Nx silver buckskin stallion so you can see the approximate color without Nx:

NxNx on bay, with liver het Nx in her pedigree:

These guys are Hom Nexus on a Hom Cream or Cream Pearl base. They turn out coal black with the stars and galaxies. They are probably one of my favorite Nexus expressions, though I also like the deep navy blues. Shoot, I like them all really...

I haven't had to many hom nexus yet but I've rerolled my foals portraits a few times with wildly different results. I also like the darker, less the blue and gray bodies. Just my two cents
