So in the effort to not cause any drama I don't think names should be mentioned, but I noticed a few of the horses I had sold have been deleted from the game when a players account was locked.. will it always do this to these horses or could they go to auction or still be in the game somewhere? I know I'm just sensitive as to where my brood go, but I didn't figure they'd get completely deleted from the game.. I thought horses kind of went to the archive if they "died" :( should I be more careful about selling to other players in the future if I don't want a horse to be taken out of the game completely? Are a players horses just thrown out if their account is deactivated or locked?
Just looking for some info on where the pixels go, thanks! :)

I'm pretty sure that, if the account is locked, then the horses just stay there until they age out of the game. Most accounts don't get deleted, at least not by us (I don't think!), locking is usually sufficient.

Horses that have offspring go to the archive. I have a feeling that the person you are talking about deleted the horses themself.

I will say that if you are sensitive at all about what happens to your pixel ponies after they leave your hands it is probably better not to sell them at all. Once you’ve sold them they are totally out of your control and tattoos can get removed/added, they could be gelded, sold back to the game and deleted, put up for brood/stud at what you feel is a low price, sold to another player etc.

Even if you choose who you sell them to carefully they can be sold again to players not of your choosing.

I am wondering if we can recover a horse that we sold to a locked player.

They don't get deleted if an account gets locked. Not sure where you are getting that idea from. They sit until they naturally age out like any account. :D

Thankfully we very rarely have to lock anyones accounts. It takes some pretty bad behavior or some pretty flagrant cheating to get locked.
