I'm planning out tutorial stuff. What milestones should be in it. My brainstorm list

Create a stallion.
Create a mare.
Fully test a mare and stallion.
Breed to create a foal.
Own 5 or more altered horses.
Enter a show.
Enter 10 shows.
Enter 100 shows.
Log in on 5 different days.
Make a forum introduction to claim your welcome pack.
Reach 20k held points.
Join the FB group.

I would add use a pasture for breeding, train horses, how to use the auction and how to put a horse up for public sale, put a horse up for public breeding, and join a chat.

It's going to be a compete a task and you can check it off and get a small reward for each task. So everyone is on the same page.

So adding:
Use the pasture for breeding.
Train a horse you created.
Place a horse for sale.
Place a horse for breeding.
Buy a horse.
Join a chat room.

•Use the search feature-perhaps have people search for something specific and trigger the event as complete when they land on the right page.

I've played a few games where the tutorial including making a purchase but it wasn't required to finish the tutorial more of a bonus thing for extra cash. :)

I saw "enter horse in auction", how about "bid on horse in auction" and/or "win horse at auction".

I think there should be some encouragement to use the tack since our members have worked super hard to make such lovely new tack items and backgrounds! So how about -

Tack up a horse
Change the backgrounds for 5 horses
Buy a tack pack with IVs

I love a lot of these suggestions!

I'd be a little reluctant to add buying with IVs to a tutorial though. It takes a long time to save up for one IV on a new account, even with the new improvements. To have enough to buy even a tack pack would take a long time -- I started in January and even with a Premium membership I haven't done it yet. (I *could* at this point but I've chosen to use IVs for more strategic things like barns.)

How long would you like the tutorial process to last? I think covering the basics -- creating, breeding, buying & selling, using free tack, using the forum & PMs, basic testing -- would be good for the tutorial. The more advanced functions (like purchasing with IVs, GMTs, closed genes) the player presumably does later when they're more familiar with the system. I don't think it's bad to leave some advanced functions for people to explore on their own.

Iv's are only 12,500. That's not all that hard to come by.

I am thinking it will actually be a full achievement system and go on indefinitely.

I found it was? But that was before the changes that you made for pointed creates -- it's definitely easier now.

On the other hand, there's not much you can do with just one IV, so getting enough for a tack pack is still a bit of a hurdle.

Just putting my thoughts out there.

Maybe some sort of incentive for new players to show and train every week not just once to get the price.
So maybe a reward for training every week for a game year and the same again for showing a horse every week for a game year.

Could you make a new category on the discussions list, so people could go directly to the Peer discussions? Like you can for Herd Helpers, or Bug Discussion?

What about something like buy a horse from the foundation rescue? Could be good practise to use the search?
Or even like collect 5 rank specials. I've seen several altered rank sspecials from new players not knowing any different.. will also get them to start being familiar with them?

No need for a new category. If your account has a peer group you have bright orange links pointing you right too it and the welcome pack is being reworked so you must post in your peer group to get your welcome pack.

If its long term then it might as well include get an upgrade and then the new things that come with that.
