Shes So... White

I don't think I've seen one as white. She was definitely the shocker of the pasture tonight. She nearly glows in the dark lol.Thanked by 1supersarah -

How interesting! l decided to check out the gene tests of these three foals to see what they might have in common. Surprisingly it's very little.
Rola, it's no wonder your filly is so white. She's got Tobiano, White 2, Splash1 and Extensive White Factor. Not to mention Rabicano, which is totally overpowered by everything else. :D
Snow White has Sabino 1, enhanced by White 20 and Large White Factor, also hiding Rabicano under all that white. And, if that's not enough, she's also Gray, which would have eventually made her white, probably even if she'd still had some
pigment showing.
Argent Dawn is the real outlier. She's Perlino, Dun, and Gray, with homozygous Roan and Light White Factor.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

@SandycreekFarm
Thank you for your analysis of our foals. It's nice to know that there are so many ways to breed white horses. It's also very interesting to learn more about genes through another more experienced player.
So Argent Dawn shouldn't be that white? I was also unaware that gray turns the horse white.Id #: 43017

Well, with homozygous Cream and heterozygous Dun there are three dilution genes in action, and the roaning pattern may be heavy, which makes her quite light. It will be interesting to see how she looks as a 2 year old.
Gray horses usually start out dark and get lighter as they age, sometimes developing interesting shading along the way. Some do eventually become completely white, others may be flea-bittten. Dapple Gray is one stage in the process, usually.
Here's a search for grays over 16 that shows some of the variations there can be.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
