Another Questionable DP carrier...
-
5G The Heart Stopper
I noticed that a lot of this guy's foals are relatively dark, so I thought that maybe he carried DP. One of his grandparents does have DP so there is a chance he does. I tried to breed him to one of the mares for my DP line, double sooty with no DP but both foals were dark were black based so I couldn't tell for sure (Which I just realized it was stupid of me to try try as he is EE), and I'd like to save the rest of my foundations to send to my freaky friday studs. By looking at some of his foals do you guys think he has DP?Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

He has paternal half brothers that are liver, but their dams carried liver so no help there either.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

I don't think so. Compare him to solids of the same color.

Yea, you’re right. I thought I had DP all figured out until I started breeding more black based horses. Lol.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

I don't know, I found these three who I think have DP from his progeny. The first two have only one Sooty, and the last has both:
The Lonely Charger (Bay)
Big Botch Up (Buckskin)

The last one is pretty dark. This is so hard. LolBreeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

I thought DP didn’t show if a horse was black based? Maybe I’m wrong too lol!

Not seeing anything that screams DP to me on those horses. Not really red enough.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

I too would be inclined to think not DP. DP increases the production of the red pigment in a horses coat. So black based horses that do show some red such as bays will show DP, it's just harder to pick out. The ones that do have it will have a super rich color to their coat.
Like this foal I'm pretty sure is DP as its got a super dark chocolately color for a wild bay:
SR 1807108
This one is for sure heterozygous DP as her sire is a freaky friday create:
SR Dark Song
Your guys look just like they have sooty to me based on my experience. Could be wrong though. The image generation is so great on here that coat color is so unique and dynamic even with the same genes at times.

Actually I think that dark chocolatey color is normal for hom sooty wild bays. DP in wild bays turns them very red, from my knowledge.Thanked by 1KintaraContest

Not sure about him but both his grandparents have dp on his sires side.Breeding liver chestnut drafts that carry snowflake and kp.
Also breeder of mushroom, watercolour, chinchilla, splash m, wrong warp and thunderstruck.
Horses generally always available.
PM me for any enquiries. -
In a wild bay such as the foal salvistar posted the coat color would be very red. I would say that one is no DP.
