I (with my untrained eye) would say they are both HOM

Maybe it's the Pangere making her (the dark chocolate mare) lighter. Don't take my answer for certain.

I'd say they are both hom DP. I have a couple hom DP chocolates and they look just like mine. Plus, they are quite a bit darker than their sire.

This link has a no sty hom DP palomino, a het sty hom DP chocolate and a hom sty hom DP chocolate side by side.
The no sty hom DP is similar in shade to: hom sty no DP pali & het sty het DP pali.
The het sty hom DP is similar in shade to a hom sty het DP.

It might help to compare to these, until you feel more confidant. :)
