You're doing the right thing by breeding evenly in quality, but that doesn't always guarantee a good foal. It looks like you've just had a bad roll on both of those foals. It happens, especially in the lab or hand breeding. Odds are usually better in the pasture because of the mare bonus and the fact that you're breeding more horses to get more foal and odds are you're bound to get at least one good one, hopefully.

That being said, I've had spectacular foals come out of the breeding lab. Best advice is don't give up and keep trying.
