Next Round of KIT updates -W20 and W3 (now called W29) -Roan Update
  • Putting this here so it does not get lost in all the images. With the update to w20 and W29(W3) KIT breeders have a wider selection of genes they can pull from that won't go all white when paired together. Some will with higher white factor but not low white factor. Some will never go all white. Hopefully these help you figure out how to adjust your lines if sabino 1 and white 15 are not working for you now.

As I said in the prior update if you need help adjusting your lines reach out to me via PM and I can get you sorted.

    W20
-This allele was dynamic before but it has been updated to more seamlessly interact with other KIT genes. It produces a low amount of white on its own but has a moderate boosting effect when combined with other kit genes.

W3 was added to our game with Mr. Millions before the real-life W3 was named. It does not look or act anything like real W3 so Mr. Million's white is now labeled W29. There is no real-life W29 and never will be so I am using it to do something special for the game.

W29 has medium white with low boosting impact. It does not drastically increase white when combined with other KIT Genes.

Both these interact fully with Sb1 and W15. When combining alleles you will get a result that is a mixture of the two.

Each form will interact a bit differently wich all the other forms.

Last there was an update to roan. I found it was consistently not showing up strong enough even after the prior update. There is baseline more roan but you can also get more vby getting a new seed.

  • W10 and W8 are next on the list. I hope to get them out sometime in February. Those are already fully dynamic so it should just be a matter of slotting them into this new system. I expect only very minor changes to how they look. They will start interacting with SB1, W15, W29 and W20 at that time.

The big-picture goal for this update is to get all of the mapped KIT mutations in the game over the next year or two.

  • What does more vby mean while discussing roans?

  • @Minute I believe it's a type-o and supposed to read "... more BY getting a new seed"
  • I'm gonna miss the blizzardy effect on the max white w29 but reality is cool too
  • I loved the W3 striping effect :-S maybe one day we will have a fantasy white that acts like it used to do. I was finally getting hom W3 in my lines and really enjoying how they looked...
  • Aww, W3 was so different from the others. The new one is cool too, but I'll definately miss the "bubbly" look from W3.

  • Is roan tied to white factor? All of them look the same now instead of a gradient from minimal to maximum.
  • There was an issue that came up with w20 combined with other kit mutations and load orders causing tings to goall white. This has been fixed and I think the resulting appearance is a marked visual improvement.

DevilsParadise - Roan has never been tired to wf in the game. It has always been seed-based.

  • Oh wow, that is very pretty indeed :x

  • Just wanted to share some of my pretty refreshed W29s :x I have always favoured low WF and tried to keep W20 to a minimum in my lines, so most of mine have very little white now. But the ones that have a bigger expression is g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s. I foresee that W29 + Sb1 will be a favourite of mine.

  • All my roans are very bright/heavily shaded. Is that the default and I have to roll a new seed to get the lighter/"frosty roan" phenotype?

I do love sb1+w20 now! It looks similar to the old W3. :D

I don't know if rabicano is tied to any white factor. I know it ties to kit in some way because it can be affected by KP and KP2. That being said, I've noticed my rabicanos are very subtle. Sometimes the body markings are nearly invisible and I'm looking for the white at the tail head to know it's there.

If i find examples as I refresh all my breeders, I'll add them below.

This one is roan and also rabicano. Can't see the rabicano on this roan. It's like the ticking is so dense, it hides it. IRL there are horses with moderate roaning and rabicano, and you can tell because the sides of the body have densely ticked vertical stripes and the tail head markings are present, but there is still roan on the rest of the body.

here is a rabicano without roan. I can see small areas of white spackling on the side if I squint.

This is the rabicano expression I'm used to seeing. It would be cool to be able to see this through/despite the new roan!!
