The leaderboards are the best horses in the server for it's particular gene combo that has been entered in clubs. Here on forest new members benefit most from participating in the Ammys here on the forum under contests and giveaways.

Okay, so.

Eras: New eras start every June and December. New eras always start at foundation level, with "perfect" being the best anyone is able to get. This means new and experienced players start in the same place on the boards. Primary era boards give out the most prizes of any board. So you could start with a new era, stick with it until it shifts to being a primary, and be in the running for those prizes.

In both colour and era boards (as well as futurities) offspring must be the same era as their parents for their parents to qualify for Top Producer.

Futurities are meant to reward those who market and share their studs the most. A stud needs at least 10 foals of the same era, bred and owned by other players, to qualify for futurities. Every month, the points earned by those foals are added up, and the studs whose foals have earned the most points win. Prizes are then awarded to the owner of the stud and the owners of his top foals. This means you can win ribbons / prizes by owning futurity stallions, or just by breeding to futurity stallions. Many of the top awards winners on Forest server have achieved that by breeding to the other people's studs, and collecting foal prizes.

And then as Seaswell said, the Ammies in the forums were created as colour boards were becoming very difficult to break into without maxing, boosting and / or cloning horses. Entries this month have been down by a lot unfortunately, but usually we give out around $10mill in prizes every month. :)
