    I am still confused with what bootstrapping is, and why on earth is it called that?

    It’s breeding the best quality stallion you can get to lower papered (often foundation) mares in order to get your breeding program to high quality papers as fast as possible. After your foundation you breed the resulting better quality mares back to their sire or another high papered stallion, and so on. Pulling it up by your bootstraps” hence bootstrapping!

    There’s two techniques, the other is even breeding which is the same generation for a pairing. Bootstrapping is definitely very popular

    Bootstrapping produces better show horses faster than breeding say a B to a Red. Bootstrapping is about increasing PT scores as fast as possible to build up a solid show herd. If you do a B x Red Cross the best you will get is A or Blue. A ***Star x Red is going to produce much higher paper levels and higher PT scores.

    What is Bootstrapping? Bootstrapping is the process of building a business from scratch without attracting investment or with minimal external capital. That's the business definition, so in reference to our horses, it's just building a show herd from scratch the quickest way possible. So originally bootstrapping here was breeding foundation mares to the high Star LB stallions. Over time bootstrapping here tends to refer to any of the uneven pedigree bred horses
