Sorry yet another question - This time regarding Futurity
  • What are the criteria for a horse to be able to be futurity locked?
What is the advantage to being futurity locked? I know there is the futurity competition on the monthly boards.
Does it impact ability, improve scores etc.?
Why do you want a futurity locked stallion to have it's foals futurity locked?
Does it matter to aforementioned stallion what level it's futurity locked offspring are?

If this is already described somewhere please just point for me :D
  • For a foal to be lockable it must be the same era as the sire. Foals must also be bred and owned by someone not the stallion's owner. You can not lock foals from your own stallions, nor are they eligible for the futurities. Nor can you have another member breed to your stallion and buy the foals back from them.

Locking a horse simply prevents it from being sold back to the game or bid by the
game if it goes up for auction. Once a horse turns 6 the lock is removed. Foals that are not locked still count toward a stallion's futurity status as long as they are the same era as their sire

Locking has zero affect on anything concerning ability, showing, etc.

Stallions do not have to be locked. Only era affects a foal ability to be locked.

A stallion's standing in the futurity is based on the number of points earned by his top 10 foals. A foals papering doesn't matter, only the point they earn through showing.
