Are you bored? Are you creative? Would you like a chance to add your backgrounds to the game? Well look no further! I'm sponsoring an Art Contest for a new Community Background Tack Pack across all 3 Servers.I do not have a closing date for this. Right now it wont be before April 9th, unless Ammit speeds up the time line she will be available.EVENT IS OPEN NOW
Suggestions are closed, please see the categories below.
Nature
Some suggestions were Mountains, Water, Forests, Mesa, and Trail RiddingBuildings
Players suggested things like Gazebos, Show Grounds, Indoor Arenas, and CircusPaddocks & Pastures
Players want more pasture backgrounds, with fences and even other horses in the distanceInternational Landmarks or Landscapes
Some suggestions were Ireland, Kentucky, Wild West, and Middle EastFantasy
Players suggested things like Middle Earth, Fantasy Worlds, and Lisa-Frank(ish)Open
For anything else that inspires you and doesn't fit one of the above categories.
Get Community Feedback & Category Suggestions. DONEPossible Final Vote on the most requested Categories. NOT NEEDED- Contest Open February 9th
- Contest Closes April 5th, 7pm EST time
- Close Entries, Pre-Vote Sort. I pick the Top 10 entries that meet each category. Estimated April 6-7th.
- Voting Begins on Forum, Google Docs, and Facebook. Estimated April 8th and closes April 12th.
- Tentative Winners posted April 13th, pending Ammits approval.
- Purchase the Tokens for the Tack Pack, and submit images to Ammit for feed back.
- All backdrop images must be 500x500 pixels and saved in .png format.
- Images must be create by you, using your drawing aid or medium of choice. This includes AI, but excludes Stock Images.
- Images need to fit the feel of the game, and should not resemble a photo.
- Horses need space to stand. Use the Rule of Thirds to help understand image composition. There needs to be a minimum of 100 pixels of clear ground for the horse to stand on.
- Images need to be high resolution and should not be grainy.
- Ammit has the final say in what is added to the game.
I'm sponsoring a Tack Pack of 10 Backgrounds, or more depending on participation (up to $100). A Tack Pack is currently $50 for 10 items, and $25 for every 10 after that.
I will probably do a Pre-Vote selection to pick the best representations of that Category. Players will then have multiple ways of voting on images. Ammit will have the final say in what images will be uploaded.
- You can vote by interacting with the forum post and "Thanking" the artist.
- At the time of Voting I will upload a Google Forum so you can cast your vote.
- I will be uploading images to the H&J Facebook, and you can vote for your favorite image by reacting to it.
- Every interaction counts towards selecting the fan favorite for that category.

I love this, backgrounds are my favourite tack item. I'm just not very good at making them, so I'll utilise AI to help me, just do basic editing on them. Here is a couple. Do they need to be more painted style? So more blurry? I thing I need a pad at the front too don't I? I'd love to contribute if I can get the hang of it!

What is the best way to phrase a prompt to get flat empty foreground for the horse to stand on?

@BoredCowgirl I don't have an answer for that one since I don't use AI. Maybe there are some sources out there that can help you with prompt writing. But it might be more just trial and error.

@BoredCowgirl It might also depend on which AI you are using. Right now on MidJourney v6 you can get a lot of mileage out of just describing what you want - I've been having some good success with actually telling it I want a background, and if the results are too cluttered I add 'plain' to the prompt and run it again. I should note, this has worked especially well with "vector style" in the prompt as Ammit suggested.

Best way to get an empty foreground is to edit it in your self after the fact. See the images already in the Member Mashup tack pack for examples off Ai images that was done with.Need to contact me? WOW These are really cool. Some things I'm noticing with AI is you have to be very mindful of where the horse is going to stand. Patterns, textures, and shadows that fall into that first 100 pixels of area will most likely automatically disqualify the entry.Thanked by 1Summervine

@CheshireStables Yeah, I suspect some of mine might be disqualified for that reason. I have tested them with a snagged pony image and I think they look fine, but I don't expect anyone to take that with more than a grain of salt. Mostly I have fun making the images I wish I had for my ponies :D

@ShowJumping4Ever May I ask how you are making them, or what program? I'm afraid I don't know of a computer with a screen smaller than 500 pixels .... are you trying to make them 500 inches instead? Also, there should be some programs available that allow you to set the size of the image regardless of the size of your screen.
