Spaying/Gelding and PT scores
-
Does spaying/gelding affect a horse's PT score? Do I need to re-test horses' PT after spaying/gelding them?ID 58328
-
Gelding/spaying does not affect PT score, but it does make horses train for longer before leveling off. The only thing that can affect PT is GMTing a horse to be perfectly consistent.Thanked by 1CarlyManciu

Is it worth gelding/spaying any horse I want to keep for show but don't plan to breed? (Even if it's breedable)?ID 58328
-
@CarlyManciu Yep! Not only because they'll gain more lifetime points because of it, but also because it's a really easy way to use the horse search to sort your breeders from your showers. Honestly with how hard most people find it to not have too many breeders, I'd even say snip anything you're in doubt on too, it'll keep you from overflowing with foals :))ID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines! To add on to what Lallyhop said, I even geld or spay horses that I used for breeders if I decide to not breed them anymore.#28036
