Can someone explain it to me?
  • So with HuntAndJump, if you go over 20k points, you will no longer create pointed horses, but I want to get the achievements of 40k and so on but like, I want mostly decent pointed horses for starters. Obviously, the point of this game is to get as many lovely ponies as you so desire and breed for showing or just to see the pretty coats, but I'm just wondering how it all works because I'm a bit confused. I've gotten to almost 30k points but the horses have under 100 points so can anyone explain in detail all the different routes I can take or just one I should stick to for now (being a newcomer on the game)?
  • Make sure you train them weekly and show them twice a week. Aside from that, time will be on your side. You need many show ponies (to have a 100k daily pay, I have 2 x 1000 stall barns plus many others that my breeding horses live in to show when they're not in pasture), and it's a bit of a long game.

You can make rank specials you don't want personally and sell them for the average herd helper price, found on the "my herd helper collection" page. That was the fastest way I found as a new player to make money and be able to buy larger barns.
  • Okay, so the first thing to note is that while you can no longer create horses with points after that cap, you are still able to buy pointed horses and, more importantly, show the horses you have. Showing them earns them more points.

Bigger, established barns, for example, will usually be keeping all of their snipped foals from breeding, and every year those foals are getting trained and shown, getting more and more points as they get older. Higher PTs will usually have roughly higher point gain/more points by the end of their lifespan, but even 9.9 and 10.4s and such will still gain quite a few! Snipping (gelding/spaying) them will ensure they train better and get more points, too.

Take this one, for example: the current highest point holder in my barn. Bred in house, born with zero points, snipped as a foal, and shown every week of his 25 years of life. Only 10.6 and outperforming everyone else.

He’s earning me 510 hbs every day by himself - multiply that by a few hundred or thousand ponies and you see how that adds up! And then as older ones age out, younger ones are cycling up in points to take their place, rinse and repeat. It takes you a few seasons to get in a groove, but with time you’ll be making 100k-500k+ hbs per day.

As for what that money goes to: more barns for more show ponies for exponential growth, and then it funds your breeding! It’s generally recommended that you have roughly 2-5 snipped show ponies for every one (1) intact breeder. If you only keep the best top 20-25% ish of your foals each year, that will keep your ratio solid as long as you’re not buying/making too many extra intacts. You can also always buy show ponies to help even it out.

As a beginner, the most important thing is building that show herd: make sure you train and show every week! If you’re running out of space, buy another barn if you can, or if you really can’t make it work sell off a few of your lowest pointed ones for each age bracket (i.e. if all your 4 year olds have 150 ish points and one of them has only 40 points, that one can go). You can also sell off 10+ year olds who have leveled off, you can send them to auction because the auction will pay you their lifetime payout in price if they’re over 10, which is close to what you’d get over their lifetime if they died at 18. (Do note, of course, that you can get lucky and they can live longer, which will get you more money total, but sometimes space is tight so it’s not worth that gamble if you don’t have the stalls for it).

  • Am I better to try to gather up Gold and Silver ponies for breeding or keeping the Special Ponies from the Herd Helpers?
  • @OldCat I'm new also, so someone may come along and correct me, but I believe that depends on what you're breeding for.

I used RSs for the mares in my 1st gen, as it's an easy way to get the majority of the genes I want. I then got my stallions from auction, and they all either have genes I want that can't be created, or they are *Star+ to increase the rank of my 2nd gens.

For my 3rd gens, I will be breeding for **Star / **Gold or better, because I know all the genes I want them to have are there. It wouldn't make sense for me now to bring down their papers with RS creates when I don't need genes from them.

However, I also have a barn dedicated only to RS mares. I haven't decided yet if I'll sell them or use them within my 3rd gen just because.

    TLDR;
Keep RSs if you need them to add certain genes to your herd.
Collect Star and Gold ponies if you care about paper level.

I would personally focus on genes first, paper level second.

Also keep in mind: unbred RSs are GMT-able, which increases their value for some players looking to buy.

  • I’ve found the best show horses are:

    13+ pt
    10-11 pt

This is what I prioritize in my show herds. This account sits at 1.2 million a day from showing ^_^

If you auction the low pointed horses you’ve created, it will lower your overall percentage and you can replace them with horses with more points. So let’s say you auction horses under 100 points: then create the same number of horses you auctioned. Then cull again. I haven’t personally done this but I know that’s how a LOT of people started their show herds.

  • Yeah, Pestilent, you’ve got a point, my 12 PTs must sit in a rut after leveling off because they never end up doing nearly as well in the long run as the 10-11 range, lol. One of those quirks of the system I guess.

  • Okay so I've had a bit of time to read through your replies, gods all of you are so lovely thank you for the information :)

So I've gone through my stables and realised that i have too many stallions (5) and mares (10) compared to geldings (3) and spayed mares (1) lol
  • So i definitely need to have a cleanout and either sell or snip. I definitely would have had more horses but i got overwhelmed with not knowing what to do so i just kept selling them all lmao

Thank you all again and feel free to keep the discussion going because its definitely helped me and might help others :)
