Big Changes Recent Past and Future
-
So I don't post on here much and haven't been as active in the last year...much of which has to do with real life craziness (all good and exciting stuff I promise!). Let's rewind and fill yall in.
I became a horse owner again after 10 years of being horseless, actually buying the same horse I had sold 10 years earlier. Spent a lot of time rebuilding our relationship and trust. Went to a show after maybe getting 10 rides on her and did really well for the classes we entered.
Somewhere around this time I decided to actually get into sewing. I had gotten a sewing machine a couple years ago for Christmas, but hadn't used it yet. Made a couple of smaller 1-2 day projects...including a Neoprene neck sweat for my horse (she thicc lol). But the big project I started on is a cosplay of GoT Daenarys coat from season 6 in the Dragon Pit. I've never actually watched the show but LOVE that coat, so I'm making it.
COVID was a thing as we all know. And I work in college athletics, more on the administrative side but my role changed to help with game day operations since we had to coordinate much more than usual from a cleaning/sanitizing perspective. Plus in the spring almost all of our 18 sports were competing at the same time. I think it was announced that we held 60 some events between the beginning of March and the end of May...I was tired!
Meanwhile, on top of all the work stuff...I got engaged to a wonderfully patient and loving human (who is slowly getting used to living with a horse in the picture). So wedding planning is a thing and definitely got paused during the spring hecticness, but we were well ahead of the game before needing to pause and are still slightly ahead of schedule for our December wedding. Also not always easy when your fiance lives roughly 800 miles away, and you've both somehow miraculously survived 3 years in a long distance relationship. Not fun, do NOT recommend.
Made the decision a little over a month ago, that I could not do the long distance thing anymore. I was tired and lonely and nothing in my career field was opening up for me to even apply for. I had always said I wouldn't move to where he is without a job lined up. However, life got in the way and gave me the ol' kick in the rear and said "why are you drawing this out and making it painful for everyone?". Answer: no idea...frozen in a mild state of panic afraid to make the wrong decision. So I leapt. I quit my job (giving 1 months notice which got them through Fall Sports move in days) and with the very generous help of my family packed up my apartment and moved (temporarily) back home with my parents.
At which point brings us nearly to the present. During the RGS in the GMT lab, I decided to finally make use of the massive (I really do mean massive) amount of IVs I've saved up and get the blue and green axiom which I have been longing for since I first saw them. End result is this lovely colt that I am very excited to breed next season. Naturally all of these wonderful formal week Rank Specials fit in nicely...too bad I missed the Orca and Black Sea. Everyone's look so beautiful! But that's my own rotten timing as you'll see if you can make it past the pretty pixel pony!

And to wrap up, I've been recovering from laser eye surgery the past few days. It truly is life altering and I have no idea why it took me so long to get it done. If you've made it this far and are considering laser eye surgery, do it! It's not as scary as you may think, and the actual laser part is extremely quick and painless...the pain comes later but really isn't that bad. This week is just wrapping up some loose ends and early next week I'm going to be loading up my car and officially moving in with my fiance.
TL:DR - Year in review: bought a horse, picked up sewing, work=crazy from COVID, got engaged, planning a wedding, quit job, moving, made a pretty pixel pony, had laser eye surgery, more moving.
Yay! You made it! Thanks for listening...errr...reading... :D -
Congrats on the exciting year you've had! I'm so happy that you're happy! I'll be horse-less for the first time soon and it breaks my heart, but work and classes just eat up so much of my time. My long term goal is to build up my own little quality breeding herd, so it's something for me to work towards at least!ID# 25784
