DP in Bay question
  • All three foals were from a hom Sooty and hom DP sire.

    Didn't get any DP

Might be het DP or just missing a sooty?

    WD2 Lucky Shakes

    Could be hom DP

Am I on the right track with any of the guesses?

  • All three have DP if their sire is homozygous.
    ID 108

  • All 3 have DP, just in different expressions.
The first colt has wild bay (A+), which is dominant over regular bay (A), which is why he’s got that brick red color. That means DP is present. If DP wasn’t present when there is wild bay, they become a deep chocolate color.
The second colt is het sooty, het DP, so will look similar in color to Hom sooty regular bays.
The third colt is hom sooty, het DP, so will look darker than Hom sooty regular bays. This is why he looks darker than the second colt.
