Introducing Khansuudyn Suns, founder of the Chocolate allele!
-
The Chocolate allele is found in most breeds of dogs and many domesticated animals but is notably absent in horses. It is a mutation of the gene TYRP1. TYRP1 mutations have long since been bred out of domestic horses save for a few lines like Mongolian horses. Chocolate, as depicted here, is not a true horse gene but I am going to let it fall into the "hypothetical" category. There is no reason why it could not be found in an exciting forgotten line from the wild steppes.
Chocolate is recessive and requires two copies of (bb) to show. It works by turning black pigment into chocolate-colored pigment. Horses that do not show black pigments like ee, heavy dilution, and watercolor horses will not show chocolate. Chocolate is NOT a dilution it is an actual shift in the structure of the pigment resulting in a unique shade of 'black' pigment.
Chocolate is a limited edition gene. It is not creatable in foundations but can be added via the RGS or the GMT lab. It is available right now.
As a grand milestone horse, celebrating 10 million horses on Bluegrass Server and 5 million horses on Forest Server, a straw from Khansuudyn Suns has been gifted to every member of the server. You have three seasons to use it before it expires. Straws are only usable by upgraded members, but free accounts have received a straw as well and will have access to them if they upgrade before the straws expire.

Breeding for all version of black drafts using chimera foundations.
Help me build my black brindle army!
Always looking to buy B/Red foundation brindle drafts in black, blue roan, grullo, classic champagne, etc.
I can be very scatterbrained and forgetful so if I don't get back to you in a decent amount of time just poke me. -
So, I have never been here when any of the previous milestone studs have been released and am super nervous about figuring out who to pair him with.
How will this guy do with a B papered mare?
Does he have some extra magic in his genetics that will help foals created from his straws pass testing or is it a gamble just like any other stallion straw in the breeding lab?ID# 47364

Your best bet is expro mares or even better double boosted mares, as he is 110% ability.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

She didn’t pass BA, but she’s an awfully flashy show pony! Thanks Ammit! -
Two questions:
Is it worth just using a non-boosted Expro mare and saving my IVs to boost the foal?
Also I have two alt accounts who won't use these straws. I understand selling them would be a no-no, but could I host a giveaway for them instead?ID 43830
It's nice to be back! :)

Thank you for this awesome new gene Ammit! I am in love with the look of it. Now I have to decide which line gets it - the brown splash M or the silver black chinchilla. Decisions, decisions :) Here is my girl, out of a Rhythm of Four mare. She is my favorite color - heavily dappled buckskin

@AgainstTheOdds It is in your breeding lab, when you go to use your straws to either hand breed or create embryos it will be listed there under the stallions name.Thanked by 1AgainstTheOdds

Go to the Advanced Breeding Lab, Use Straws. Use the drop down box to find his name "Khansuudyn Suns". Select the mare you wish to use.
I used my straw on an Exceptionally Perfect Riding Horse mare and got this lovely colt, which is A papered and tested Superior to Sire. Whee! Thanks, Ammit.

Just to clarify, does this gene only require black pigment to "activate" (besides being homozygous recessive), or is it intensified/distorted/shifted by the agouti gene?

Aga before boost, superior post boost ^_^ I don’t breed “blacks” anymore so I guess I’ll have to bootstrap him haha. -

I couldn't help it. I differently be removing roan. Then probley add hom s+. Will DP darken the this gene or not?Thanked by 1AgainstTheOdds -
I just happened to have a stud project that I wasn't sure what to do with. He just needs sooty +, ice 12 and LP removed.

Oh found it, Thank you.

If I can justify the expense of a boost she might get a chance to stay and not get snipped (passed BA but papered lower than folks so doubt she would pass SBA) as I think she's probably a high red currently and boost could pop her up to a blue. She sure is cute though.

Snipped, but too pretty not to try. After two boosts, he's still not as good as his sire, but he IS as good as my XP stallions. He can be my most expensive mediocre stallion. :)

Hmmm, On my screen ChocoLa's picture has not updated since I added Hom DP, Sty and S+ and changed AA to Hom brown. If he has dapples his picture is updated.

Do you need to “own” this gene to buy straws from a horse that carries it? It shows up orange, and I haven’t bought the license, but I technically own a horse with it (from my straw).
-
@BreezyCreek, no. We all automatically got a free straw from the above stallion, which means it is an open gene.Love,

Thanks!
