Considering Nexus - Question

    Seeing how Nexus interacts with Onyx, I'm seriously considering adding it to my herd!

    Question: Does the original coat color interact specifically with Nexus, or is the end result pretty much random? For instance, I know some Nexus show as more blue and others as more black. I'm rather partial to the blue ones.

    The original coat does effect the nexus look.

    The search would be the best place to look up what your horses colour would look like with homo nexus (het nexus is just starry snowflakes) I believe mine tend to be more black than blue and I have a lot of white patterns on a grullo base. But they’re on hj1

    Sue, usually nexus turn light base coats extra dark, and dark base coats a light grey-blue with other colors falling somewhere in between.

    When I added nexus to my onyx boy Keepin It Country, he looked a lot like this guy as far as his coloring goes. I had rerolled Country to get a bit softer edges with less of the brown at the flank, but the basic shades of coloring is what Country looked like. I still see his old image in my search because I haven't cleared cache, so I could compare. :D

    With hom nexus added to Country, all the lightest areas went the backlit cloudy nebula nexus color and the areas that were dark before shifted that neat purple-to-blue gradient.

    I was a bit on the fence about actually breeding onyx, I got it mostly so I could buy the inevitable shiny foal I can't resist, but now that I added nexus to my boy he's going to get his own pasture of girls. B-)
