Tonight I honored the last thing I felt obligated to do for my best friend when she slipped into the coma a couple months ago. It wasn't a hard thing, or something that really has any impact on my life, but I can't stop crying.

Today I sent an email. To a woman I have grown to detest over several years. Not because she was a horrible person, but because she was the wrong person. Today I told my best friend's wife she is a widow.

The funeral has come and gone, the words spoken by so many people who had abandoned my friend over the years, but continued to love her in their own way. The tears have been shed, and yet today I had to do the last thing.

I wrote four short lines, filled with so much trepidation at what I might receive in return. Tonight I got two lines in reply.

I miss my friend.

I'm absolutely horrified that I will never be able to share my joys and triuphs with her any more. She has been the ear that has held my sorrows for so long, and now there is litterally nothing left do do. She's gone.

Ok, guys, I need a serious mood boost... Jokes, stories, anything.... I'm home alone tonight and need to not dwell.

I'm currently listening to Jack Sparrow running his mouth with a comedy I can't compete with. While I don't really care why the rum is always gone, I don't think it's a coincedence that another line comes to mind right now. "Not all treasure is silver and gold love."

I know I want to add another Ice to him but I'm surfing the search examples trying to decide which one and whether to pull the roan off and make him Het Nx if it pops up on the RGS. I was tempted by Axiom to give him a sparkle just now, but still just not loving it.

Oh @Seaswell I am so very sorry!!! I only have one joke that I like, I kinda came up with it myself randomly one day and its always stuck with me. How did the bird open his treasure chest? ............. with his CROWbar!!! HaHaHa!! Sorry, lol I'm not the funniest today either. Have had some really rough days at work which is nothing compared to the pain you're going through. But let me just say, if you need anything at all, we are all here for you!

I'm so sorry. I've never had a friend die, but I have had family members pass and I know its hard.. My inbox will always be open for you or anyone that needs to talk. You can also look through my barn and have straws from any of my studs- even xfiles. :x

I know how horribly hard it is to be the one left behind alone. I lost my fiance suddenly a few years ago, and then slowly and painfully lost my mother to alzheimers (I was her caregiver) less than a year later. It was rough, but I had my dogs to keep me moving (had to feed, water, and walk them, no matter what) and my brother to keep me sane. My best advice to you is adopt a puppy or dog in your friend's memory. Save a life to memorialize her, a life that will help you move on as much as you help them.

I wish I were better at coming up with jokes or funny stories on demand instead of just when someone happens to say the right thing to jar my memory.

*giggles* THIS right here is why I love you guys. I pop in randomly to try my hand at fishing, and a treasure trove of life is just waiting like a hug. ...crowbar.

Justa, I actually picked up another family to nanny for, even though I had planned to retire from childcare with my last family. It's only part time, but a couple days a week I'm completely focused outside myself in a way that is comfortable to me. My husky , Mr. B, is plenty of dog for my life.

@Seaswell, as someone who was owned by a husky/wolf for nineteen years and two months, I totally understand one husky being enough. Sounds like you've found a great distraction, though. It's hard to think too much about other things while chasing munchkins around.
