Does anyone know the nomenclature explaining why champagne is not part of this foal’s phenotype color name (cremello roan)? Is it because she is cremello aka homozygous cream? She is only het for champagne, but I have several het horses with champagne in their phenotype. I just noticed this naming peculiarity today, and wondered if other champagne breeders knew the reason. Exploring the ICHR website revealed that hom cream (cremello) plus champagne is very uncommon, but I didn’t fully find the answer to my question. Thanks in advance!

Its the hom cream. It's too pale to actually express champagne, so it isn't in the name. A cremello q champagne looks pretty much just like a plain old cremello without champagne.
