Why is she not liver?

    She's missing another darkening Gene. She's her DP and her S+ she would need either another DP or Sooty(+)

    Her dam is SS, so you wouldn't be able to add a second sooty, and her appaloosa varnishing makes it hard to tell if she is a DP carrier, but I doubt it. So, her dam is not a good prospect if you're hoping for a liver chestnut.

    You could try adding a second DP on the dam's side, if you can afford the 10 GMTs to do it. If the lab won't let you, then the dam is not a carrier.

    Just gonna bump in real quick- it only costs one token for lined horses :) I agree with seldom though, you wont be able to make her a liver because she needs two copies of Ssty or S+

    If the dam carries DP, you can GMT the foal liver for 1 token. You need 3 or 4 darkening genes in any combination (2 dp + 1 sty and 2 dp + S+ will work).

    Thanks for picking up on my error, MariaChapinFarm. I do know that it takes only 1 token to add a parent's gene, but it slipped my mind last night.
