Did I miss something here? w20 and kit M are safe, and the mare's white factor should have offset by the stud's (or is this wrong?)

It's the double copy of splash (PAX3C70Y) that caused the overload I believe. Or at least my guess is that it got a copy from each and that's what caused the lethality.

Yes, Splash 2 is lethal when homozygous unless GMTd that way. Splash 3 is also lethal when homozygous, and Splash 2 and Splash 3 are lethal when on the same horse (born, not GMTd).

I’ve only ever lost one foal and it too was due to 2 copies of Splash 2 as I didn’t realise it was lethal when homozygous. I know to look out for it now.
