Surrogate mares?
-
Can failed or show only mares be used to carry foals? When using a mare to carry an embryo, do the genes of the surrogate matter at all?
-
As long as a mare is intact it can be bred or used as a surrogate. Only the stallions and mare who’s egg you did use will effect the foalBreeding even generation Grullos with Ice

Thank you

I personally use a herd of Exceptional Show Horse mares as my ET herd since their job is mostly to sit in a barn. At least I might get some decent show points out of them that way. But yeah, the surrogate mare has no influence on the genetics, BA or PT of the resultant foal.
