I got lucky with this foal..
Her parents are both Yule log ashes,

LumpintheAshes 2g

I bred her parents again this year and the foal was lethal.. the impossible w2 and w1 combo? What are the chances of having another good foal? Vs another lethal.. is it 50/50 like I'm thinking? :/

Whew! It's a little surprising that you got anyone, because white 1 and white 2 are lethal homozygous AND with each other, unless they have a very low white factor. :)

I figured I just got lucky, but it was my first time breeding YLA so I completely spaced the w1 and w2.. yikes! So I should NOT try to breed them ever again? Lol

You certainly can try, but it might be wasteful. :P If you can get eggs from her, you could try a bunch of breedings a year, or you could just try finding studs and mares with similar base colors to what you're looking for, and then breed like that. :P

Yeah, somebody advertised a Hom W1 gen 2 foal the other day and I was gobsmacked! Gorgeous foal though.

I would definitely find another stallion for your girl.

Also.. so.. these guys have a high risk of having a lethal foal? W2 and I assume kitw means white 1?

Actually those two (Exceptional Sun and Spicy Cookie) are relatively safe together. The resultant foal should be ok except in the 1/4 times it gets W20 and W1. Even more risky in the 1/8 times it will get both of those and the mare’s Splash. But all around, not a super risky pairing. I definitely have riskier crosses in my pastures.

However, if you’re totally in love with either of these and want to maximize your chances of foals, I would not breed them to each other just in case.
