Do I have the basics right?
  • For example E=Dominant and e=recessive so
    Ee=Heterozygous Dominant
    eE=Heterozygous recessive
    EE=Homozygous Dominant
    ee=Homozygous recessive

  • E is dominant and e is recessive.

    As far as Ee or eE, both are just heterozygous, meaning that the horse expresses the dominant gene but can pass a copy of either allele to its offspring. So,

    If you had an Ee Freaky Friday for instance, and bred him to ee mares, the foals would have a 1/2 chance of being black based or red based.

    Does that help?
  • For lined horses, the sire's contribution is listed first and the dam's second. That is why some horses will have the dominant allele first and some will have the recessive first for heterozygous genes.
    Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses. Liver chestnut, DP mushroom, and rose gray riding horses. Dun cobs with all the patterns. Watercolor, Wrong Warp and ice on mixed body types.

  • Yep,
    Thanks
