He was from a rank 4 homozygous tobiano herd helper. Do you think he will make a good stud? His PT is low. I know that doesn't have anything to do with his breeding ability. I though rank 4 were perfect foundation. He can't be perfect because of his PT score. Am I wrong? -
Rank 4 (and 5) color HHs can have any breeding and showing ability. Only Rank Specials are always perfect foundations (or exceptionals) in addition to the specified color.
Your stallion is C papered, and presumably passed BA, so he should be a decent foundation breeder. If you want to be sure that he isn't at the low end of what will pass you could compare him to a perfect foundation.Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses. Liver chestnut, DP mushroom, and rose gray riding horses. Dun cobs with all the patterns. Watercolor, Wrong Warp and ice on mixed body types.
