Question on my stud and mare's color.

Okay i have had him ever since i started breeding in November of 2016....i'm still puzzled though....it says he's a Buckskin Roan Splash....but he looks Bay? any idea's?

Buckskin is bay, just with a cream that dilutes the color. I did a search for all buckskin roan horses (without being wild type) and there's a pretty wide range of colors. I think JordanK is right, it's the sooty causing him to be that much darker.

And your bay dun girl looks buckskin because the dun gene lightens the body of the horse. The shade varies. The roan and varnish also contributes to making her look paler
Now that I think of it the majority of my bay duns look buckskin and most of my buckskins look bay :))

Also, the appaloosa on the mare can cause her shade to look funky. That is why her mane and tail look bronze/brown instead of black.SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES
