Ummm How do I get the ERROR: UNKNOWN ANOMALY color name? Is it a gene combo, or maybe a special license?

It's the color name that pops up for nexus horses. Maybe Axiom, too?

I don't know. The sire of one of my studs is this color, and I was hoping there was some way his color could pass down

The "UNKNOWN ANOMALY " is because he's homozygous Nexus. Underneath that he's a black splash tobiano.

Nope, this version of Nexus is open to anyone to play with. Look at the color DNA code, the NxNx is black like the rest. License genes get flagged with orange lettering.

You want homozygous Nexus - two copies of that Nx. If you have any Nx horses with the starry markings, you'd breed them to each other hoping the foal will inherit that Nx from both parents and pop up ANOMALY.

This baby is fairly typical of hetero Nexus, with just one copy of Nx:

Her grandsire is homozygous for Nx and has the ANOMALY as his color name.

Breed that NxNx to a 'normal ' horse and you'll always get starry babies like the filly I linked to. Breed NxNx to hetero NxN, you get either stars or anomaly. Breed two NxNx "anomaly " horses together and you'll always get anomaly.

Yes, you will also get Error: Unknown Anomaly for a horse that carries two Axiom alleles, either two of the same or one each of any two. I don't know for sure, but you might also get the same "color name" if you have a horse with 1 nexus and one axiom color.

Wrong Warp is on the same chromosome as Nexus and Axiom, so I expect the same thing would apply there, although I'm not sure.

You have to rely on the results of the Gene Test to know the base color underneath these homozygous anomalies.

@SandycreekFarm I'm pretty sure that 1 nexus and 1 axiom allele combine to just look like a single of either. So, just stars on a regular horse coat.

youre welcome to look through my foal crop, ive just begun breeding my nexus horses, most het i will sell. no hom unfortunately as i dont have very many :)

If you’re interested in hom nexus I would sell these two. One is a mare and the other is a stallion. The stud is het for satin and both are even 5th gen
