What does breeding precautions mean?
-
That is my personal tattoo for horses that carry genes that, when bred together, could cause a lethal combination. There is a chart of those combinations in the links post I put up earlier this evening.
Mayabelle carries W1 which could cause a dead foal if crossed with any of the white (1-10) genes, etc.
The tattoo is mostly a reminder for me to pay attention. -
That they have one or more genes that have fatal combinations which would produce a dead foal. There is a chart of lethal gene combinations in the Updated Lethality Chart forum discussion right now.Thanked by 1SummertreeFarms
