When do foals age up?
-
How long before they grow up? And how long before the adult horses age up?
-
We work on a month per season plan here. Your foals will turn 2 during monthly rollover that starts on the 28th. 2 year olds look like adults, but some genes like varnish will change a horses look every season.
When a horse is 17 they can age out at their next birthday. Every horse 18+ has a 20% chance every year to pass. 40 is the max age.
I should also add 20 is the max age for breeding.45120Thanked by 1K9db1 -
Thanks Seaswell! Woah!! The system is much more in depth than I thought! Awe, dang, then it’ll take a while for my foals to even grow up. Are the mares not breedable till them too?
-
Mare can breed at 4. Studs can breed at 3, and if you have premium you can pull and use eggs from 3yr mares.
As a new player, your focus right now should be making those pointed creates and keeping what you like to boost your daily income. There is no interest on your first 1000 barn stalls, so buy barns to keep those horses.45120Thanked by 1K9db1 -
Ah, thanks Seaswell! Will do that. Still trying to figure out the meaning of most terms and which test results and horse characteristics are actually better than others
-
There is a lot of reading involved to learn the game, but it's worth it. I personally still haven't picked a favorite gene combo and I've been here for years. The nice thing is as you grow you can add new projects to your barn. As for testing, if you can afford it do all the tests. If you can't start with genetic testing and breeding advice.45120Thanked by 1K9db1

True, I’m really having fun with it!
I try and fully test my horses as soon as I get them and before selling or auction. I sold my first horse yesterday too!
But I’m still a bit confused by the letters and numbers and things. Let me see if I got this right:
Papered horses: yellow is the lowest and gold is the best? And A is the best? The more stars the better?
Performance: Consistent is better than inconsistent? And the bigger the number the better?
-
Girls run yellow, red, blue ,gold*, gold**, gold*** for breeding ability. Boys run C, B, A, star*, star**, and star***.
PT is the numbers. Also known as performance testing. This is a horses showing ability. It tells how hard and how long a horse will train.
Numbers and papers have less to do with each other than you think. In sibling foals the high PT horse is probably not the best breeder, but PTs will go up as the papers get better.45120Thanked by 1K9db1 -
Thanks Seawell! Oh wow, so many details to consider, I’m going to need some practice, lol!
I created a full barn of horses today. Was just checking who has the highest daily hb points and seeing who gets the most points in shows.
How do you get papers by the way? Haven’t figured that out yet -
The rest called breeding inspection. Make sure you use it after breeding advice because it's free on an altered horse.45120Thanked by 1K9db1
