Changes to Agouti Promoter
-
Can the horse needing to be bay or buckskin be added to the requirements for the Agouti Promoter LBs? As an Agouti Promoter breeder it feels unfair that horses can compete there now without being able to display the gene. Otherwise shouldn't gp also be open to everyone no matter whether their horse is bay or not?
Also, is there a reason collectibles are now barred? It doesn't seem like any of the other colour clubs ban collectibles. I have a whole line of wild bay collectibles, so that change really affects me.
Edit: Was just browsing the clubs more to extra confirm the collectibles thing and noticed: Should Dun Factor Promoter also require a copy of Dun? Otherwise again, horses can enter without displaying the gene. Which means breeders can breed it as a hidden gene just to qualify for awards, without actually contributing to lines that feature that gene. -
I just removed the requirement for bay to be in the name. I won't be adding it back. The club is tiny and needs way more entries that is why the change was made in the first place. The bay club has 56,096 entries Agouti promoter only 6k. Allowing more entries is more fair.
The collectible change was not intentional and has been set back.
Each breeder club has its own rules based on a wide number of complex sometimes highly technical factors. There is no overarching rule that says genes must be displayed and never has been.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. To clarify, I wasn't asking for that requirement to be added back. As I said, for instance, bays and buckskins both show it. Agouti being visible is the requirement, much like with GP, not the horse being bay specifically. The change in the club name makes so much sense considering this, and hopefully will help people realize the varied opportunities within this gene.
I think adding more entries is great! However I think rewarding people that may not actually care about improving agouti promoter feels unfair when some of us have worked hard to expand the club, and improve the horses that display that gene. Encouraging people to breed for agouti promoter is awesome. Encouraging them to take advantage of awards in a growing club with an easily hidden gene doesn't feel awesome (which was my concern with entry being entirely open ended).
Most of the small clubs and small eras have people that are very dedicated to keeping them going; to grow them to keep them from being taken away or becoming inactive, to ensuring awards run, etc. etc. The bigger clubs just don't have that same community effort, because they don't need it. I think because the smaller clubs have far more intention behind them, changes to them also feel more personal. That may not be valid from a game perspective, but it's true regardless.
With the changes you've made / are making to how that gene displays along with the club changes, maybe more people will be excited about horses that display it and want to contribute to lines with it in a meaningful way. I'm all for expanding the breeding of a gene, by people who want to contribute to bettering the community around that gene.
:) Thank you for adding collectibles back! I was so scared, lol.
