What makes quality Show Horses?
-
What are the factors that make a good show horse on the game? consistency, PT, what else? Is there another unknown factor? I'm assuming the 100% training ability or over 100% training ability that can be seen on herd helpers is something we can't see.
Is there a way to know if the horse is over 100% training ability? Does this even have benefits?
I'm wanting to make sure I'm not missing something.
I've seen several others say that the best show horses are 12-13PTs that have been gelded/spayed. If this is true why is it true?

Consistent vs. Inconsistent liftime payouts will generally balance out over a horse's lifetime, according to Ammit.
Higher PT means they can train to high levels, essentially. (Train for longer).
Spayed or gelded horses also train longer than those that are in tact.

PT tells you how long a horse will train for. What matters is how many points a horse will accumulate in its lifetime, which determines how much money it makes you in its lifetime. The best show horses are the ones with the most points.
There is no magic thing you can look at to know how many points a horse will win in its lifetime. There are too many random factors at play. Any horse has the potential to be a good show horse. Higher PT horses can earn a lot more points than lower PT horses.
It might be true that if you are breeding for 12 to 13 PT range that foals earn more points on average. I don't know about that, I have not done the math. It is 100% and provably true that horses with 14+ PTs earn the most points in the game.
Here is a list of top 100 17-year-olds sorted by lifetime points.
https://hj2.huntandjump.com/adv_search.php?runsearch=go&jump=0&hpp=100&agee=17&f_adv=points_py
Of the top 100 horses:
6 have a PT 15 or higher
69 have a PT in the 14s
24 have a PT in the 13s
0 have a PT in the 12s.
Of horses # 900 to 1000 on this list:
0 have a PT above 15
30 have PT in the 14s
66 have a PT in the 13s
1 has a PT in the 12s
Of horses # 3900 to 4000 on this list:
0 have a PT above 15
8 have PT in the 14s
34 have a PT in the 13s
8 has a PT in the 12s
1 has a PT in the 11s.
25% or so of the top 1000 horses are inconsistent. They are spread evenly throughout the top 1000 horses. There is no indication that consistent or inconsistent horses are doing better. PT seems to be the biggest factor.
The very first horse with a PT in the 12s appears at #781 on the list, next at #978. Of the top 1000 horses by points at that age only 2 horses with a PT in the 12s are on the list. Notably, both are inconsistent.
The myth that horses with a PT in the 12s are the best show horses is 100% disprovable.

You can still make a good deal of money with lower PT horses. But for the most money, you want to be using *** parents as much as you can get your hands on them. Remember PT is not inheritable, you must chase breeding papers not PT if you want good show foals.
A 15pt **star stallion is a worse breeder, and will make worse foals than a 13.8 PT ***star stallionNeed to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

And just to prove that PT is powerful but luck matters too

Look at the range of points won by these different horses with 15+ Pts. Some of a few hundred points many with over 3k points. Super high PT horses can win you these massive point pools but are not guaranteed to. You might win more points with a much lower PT horse but you can win the most points wit the highest PTs.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. A perfect example of you can't "breed PT"
https://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=10612194#tabs-2
Stallion has a pt of 15, but his average foal PT is only 12.19. His best foal ever has a PT of 13. 1.
