Hi all, i recently maxed out this boy

DF Dark Silver
and I'm excited to find some gals to breed him to but i want him to have dapples showing through like his dam

Is this a genetics matter or do i have to reroll for a new image until the dapples show? I'm just asking as I'm trying to be very smart with the horsebucks at this stage and I don't really want to have to reroll if i can help it, the fact he has no extra white markings is perfect for my line.

The little question I have is about Ice 18/19 (Midnight). Is it a dominant gene as in it doesn't show any other genes present on the horse or can some genes show through and mix together?

Not sure about the genetics vs reroll question. He's black liver, the darkest phenotype of chestnut, so he may just not show dapples.

For ice 19, I have quite a few intact and snipped horses with it. Search my account 52949 for horses with ice 19 and you can see its effect on pinto and appaloosa as well as different base colors. Some of the horses have 17/19 and you can see the difference 17 makes when it interacts with 19. Ice 17 makes the body color paler and adds swirled ribbons of ice. You can see the ribbons through the midnight and the lighter body color is also detectable, even on a brown or black base coat.

@silverborn bugger, I'll try to find a few mares similar to his dam and see if those dapples come up in the offspring.

I did have a look through ur barns and gosh u have some pretty ponies. You sent me on a midnight search and look at this gorgeous one. Do you think if i get ice 19 one day, and add it to Dark Silver, he'd still show the light mane and tail?

@GrungeBunny02 with lined horse you can only add genes that they may have possibly gotten from their Sire and Dam. With unbred foundations you can add whatever genes you would like.

Dapples are random so rerolling his image would eventually give you dapples.

@grungebunny02 I think the mane and tail are unaffected by midnight. It only adds the darkness effect to the body color.

Mushroom will show that beautiful white mane with Flaxen. The f's are the letter you need to watch for.

I did reroll his image about 7? times i think and yes i got dapples on him now, also renamed him ^-^

@Cottonwoods he is a red based mushroom with all the darkening genes (DP and Sty), plus flaxen to lighten the mane
