What causes the patchy look?

Can anyone explain why some horses come out patchy looking? Is this just how chimeras turn out sometimes?

Yes, this is one version of chimera. It requires 2 things. Large patch chimera and gene strings that are visually different. You can reroll the image of a chimera to get the large patch version if you want to. Though it may take a few tries.45120
