Level 3 Gift Exchange questions

Hey all! I debating on trying the level 3 gift exchange for the first time, but have a few questions about expectations :)
1. How much real life money is typically/ on average expected?
2. Is it frowned upon to use the forum and exchange hbs for $ for your giftee at this level? I know it's fairly common in the other two levels, but is this taboo or tacky at level 3?
3. I'm not sure what I should ask for here as I have nearly everything I need. At the lower levels, I typically just ask for show ponies. I sign up for Gift Exchange to spoil someone else, expecting nothing special in return as I've got a fairly well established barn. But I'm unsure if that would make it difficult for whoever received me in return.

1) 20 USD or so, but sometimes more, sometimes none
2) Not at all. But expect to pay more than normal as everyone will be doing that and driving the price up.
