Help with gift exchange inspo?
  • Help a newbie out! :)

Last gift exchange, I received 4 horses (amongst so many goodies) that entirely molded my lines into a place I'm now happy with. (*)

However, now I have no idea what to ask for this time around. I realize I could just participate in RAoG instead, but want to make sure I'm not cutting myself short, if that makes sense.

I'm happy with my herd sires, mares, and the trajectory of my next generations. I have a freezer full of ***Star straws and ***Gold eggs. Besides these things, what would you ask for?

You can never have too many funky straws, I suppose.

    I qualify for level 2.

    Thank you! :)

  • In June there's probably going to be a lot of rank specials that we've never seen. They might be fun

  • Show horses are always a good ask :)
  • Any open or orange you don’t have in your lines yet, show horses, your favorite herd helpers or new herd helpers you don’t have! I asked for a wide range of things, from more mares to my favorite herd helper (exceptionally perfect black! I own 9583994938483 of them). Putting in a range of prices is always good. I suggest getting unrelated mares to the ones you have now, for less inbreeding :)) **gold and *gold mares are fantastic to throw in pasture to generate show horses every season, so they’re always on my list cause in my opinion you can’t have enough of them. You could also add horses from your favorite breeders! I’ve listed a couple of my favorites in the past, or told my giver. It’s a good way to get more of those horses in your lines.

  • I appreciate you guys saying show horses - I considered that but wasn't sure if that would be boring for my gifter and therefore frowned upon.

Horses from fave breeders is a great idea too! With the bonus of reducing inbreeding.

Thanks all! :D I've got some ideas now. Cheers!

  • Also just a reminder: there are a lot of people like me that don’t participate in the GE anymore but like to give out presents in the RaoG. Always remember to pop in a dream horse you would create just in case. The more specific, the more likely somebody might make it for random gifting.
  • One of my favorite things to ask for is named & tacked show ponies. Bonus points if there's a theme or thought out names related to their parents. People can be so creative. One year, I got a whole stock of ponies named for different classical book titles. Another time, someone gifted me Santa's reindeer.

  • One of my favorite things I ever received was a small group of show ponies that each had a poem in their notes. I have no idea what I'll ask for this time either.
