Question on embryos and pasture bonus
-
When implanting an embryo, are the resulting foals' quality affected by surrogate mares' pasture bonus?
I might be the single player with the most questions... Thank you all for being such a good sport and helping me out with answers!ID 58328 -
That's a great question! I still have frequent questions too.
The quality of the surrogate mare does not influence the foal as far as I know. I have a few yellow mare in my barn that I use for this job.
I leave my pasture mares for pasture breeding. Usually.Thanked by 1CarlyManciu -
Duven is correct, the surrogate mare has no impact on the quality of the foal. She is simply a womb for the foal to develop.
If you are short of horses/space, I used to make random creates for surrogacy then dump them in the auction when I was finished with themID - 47350 (Most Licences) Breeding heavy. Carry it Forward Project - Snf, Kp, Dp, Df, Sa and Sb2. Welsh Dreams - Full of fantasies

@OndowaStables what is the 15 day pasture bonus?| #59142 | Spotted | Reiner | Chocolatey | Enchanting | Stygien | Lunara |

@Cottonwoods Every day a mare spends in pasture gives her a quality bonus that transfers to her foals born in pasture. So foals born from a mare with a pasture bonus tend to have better papers and PT and general all around quality than foals that were not born this way.
What @OndowaStables is saying here is that all foals who are lab bred (ie: using straws or embryos) have the same advantages as if they were born from a mare who had been in pasture for 15 days.
I think I remember seeing a chart somewhere that shows the difference between foals with a 1 day pasture bonus vs a 30 day pasture bonus, which is the maximum. If anyone knows where to find this, please link it below! (I searched everywhere I could think of - the Wiki, FAQ section, the Forum, etc. and couldn't find it.)ID 58328 -
Not quite. All foals get a random range of quality say 5 to 40. The more days in the pasture the mare spends the more the lower end drops off. At a full 30 days her foals will be from 20 to 40 in quality instead of 5 to 40. You get better odds but the mare's quality does not go up at all.Need to contact me? Read this first.
