Need your Feedback on the Thoroughbred.
-
We are ready for feedback on our next BC. This time it is the Thoroughbred. Please let us know any issues with the line art you spot that need addressing.
-Please do not post photos here. We have found photos during the feedback phase unhelpful at best and downright confusing at worst.
-You are always welcome to edit, draw on, mark up, or otherwise alter the below images in any way you want to more clearly show your feedback. (If you are doing heavy edits please use the no mane and tail version.)
-Please be very clear and explicit with your feedback. Saying "The leg looks odd" is completely unhelpful, and expects us to be mindreaders. Good feedback looks like "The front near side leg on the adult as a cannon bone bows out at the ankle." We need to know which image, which part specificity, and what you think does not look right.
These posts normally run for about 24 hours. Thank you so much for your help.

**Just a note, yes this horse is large withered, a bit long, and a bit underbuilt in the hind end. These are intentional choices I have made as I feel it best represent the breed. I want a horse that looks like many of the OTTB's many people own and love. So please know that I won't be changing those aspects. We are also going for a very young baby with this foal. We plan to add a bit of ribbing in the shading to help sell that.

my biggest nitpick is the foals hooves. It needs a little more heel and the dorsal angle needs to be more upright. Lots of newborn hooves look just shy of clubby the dorsal angle is so straight. I love the idea of a newborn looking foal!Thanked by 1Ammit

We are going for a few weeks old not newborn if that changes your feedback. :)Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

ooh that itty bitty scrunchy baby is so cute! I grew up on ottbs and I think this is a great representation of them. I'm glad y'all went with one that isn't in racing shape- that greyhound look is great and all but there's so much more thoroughbreds are used for and most folks wont ever see one in racing shape in person. I definitely love the hind end- for sure screams TB to me :))Continuing my reign as the most annoying player on the forums and hgg’s favorite butch lesbian cowboy

I’ve been waiting on a Thoroughbred in this game since before breed characteristics were a thing! Seriously, I think I had a dream that Thoroughbreds were added once and I woke up prepared to wipe my barn of ponies and shift to TBs haha.
I like the uphill build a lot. I respect that you aren’t changing it, but most of the TBs I’ve worked with had a bit more build to their hind end.
I love a good full tail, and my personal TB has one! But many of the TBs I’ve known and loved had shorter and slightly thinner tails. I’d love to either see the same thickness, but banged somewhere between where it is now and the hock, or to see it shorter in general.
The foal is adorable. :) -
I will be scooping this one out the second it comes out - I love it, and the baby is my fav yet

The ears on the adult are set a tiny bit too far back. The poll (highest point of the skull) is behind the back of the ears, but in this horse example you can see it between the ears. Ideally the skull between the ears should already be sloping down, not level at first and then turning to downward slope as it is here.
Aside from that, the left front fetlock of the adult has a line that I think is a shading illusion from horse examples. I've seen it even in textbook illustrations and when I looked up the anatomy, it is where the flexor tendons enter the fascia around the joint. It is occasionally visible on some horses but having an entire line in the art dedicated to it exaggerates it too much. I'm speaking of the horizontal line that's just below the middle of the fetlock joint area, that starts at the back of the leg and goes forward. The line separating the fetlock and pattern is anatomically appropriate, but the horizontal line above it adds the illusion there's a bump there when in reality there may be a small "ripple" in the skin over the edge of the fascia but it's not significant enough for a line on the art itself.
No notes on the foal. Everything else with the adult is perfect. They look just like a horse I used to ride and seeing the art brings back wonderful memories! -
Other than the pasterns (especially the near front) on the foal being a bit too relaxed they look great! Excited for this one to go live ♡

OMG! I love it! These are perfect!ID 53752 Breeding ponies of all sizes and lots of pretty colors!

Seconding the tail comment, it looks a little too full/long to me - and this coming from someone obsessed with the long and luscious tack pack :P
