The adding mushroom won’t kill him, it just kinda does the opposite of platinum so it doesn’t show up well - but if you wanted to add it anyways so you can split off the foals into two groups or just so you can get the license, you’re totally fine to do so, it won’t kill him or his foals, just know it won’t show up properly. :)

She's got some other stuff going on but Hidden is an example of almost all the lightening genes with Hm DP and Sooty darkening genes.

Silver isn’t a licensed gene, by the way! Flaxen isn’t either. They’re just the black based and red based versions of “make the mane and tail lighter”. (Well, it’s a little more complex than that but that’s a good simple way to put it for now).

The appy/snow whitening (“varnish”) happens as the horse ages but exact numbers vary horse to horse, just like in real life. There’s multiple genes that will affect it. I’d suggest taking a look at various ages of appy horses in the horse search to see some examples. You can put appy (LP) as a must have, then just put the age of the horse at “exactly” various numbers to see what happens.
