2 stallion Pasture question?

    Whats the point of being able to have 2 stallions per pasture? Is there a point to making use of both stallion spots??

    Do both stallions somehow get to breed to each mare (for two foals per mare), or is there not a point and its just that which stallion gets bred to which mare being random?
    Struggling artist, just having fun making cute horses.

    It's cheaper to pasture breed, plus mares gain a bonus the longer they are in the pasture, so can produce better foals. Having larger pastures means you can have more mares in pasture gaining that bonus. Having two or three stallions in a pasture ensures every mare gets bred, since stallions max st 50 live covers per season. You don't have to use two stallions, but if your pasture is full, not all the mares get bred. When you use two stallions, which mares get bred to each one is random, but they all get bred once. It's quite useful for large barns that have a great many mares.

    For an anecdotal take, I appreciate having 3 stallions in my 100 mare pasture - I could just use two, but having them split three ways serves two purposes for me. One, it allows me to mix and match genes more so I can keep the foals from all looking the same, and two, it allows my studs to each have a small handful of live covers left at the end of breeding instead of being entirely maxed out, so I’m able to use them for the occasional in-house breeding or let someone else have a few covers.

    I use it to increase the genetic diversity, and there is only 50 breedings per stud anywhere per season… so it makes sense to use more anyhow. I then just sort the pasture by sire as I pull them out. I enjoy seeing what they produced.
